PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea has said that the ruling party doesn’t endorse the draft law tabled by UDMR on the possibility of establishing some separate development regions that could get special autonomy status by the law, arguing the initiative is not constitutional.
“No, I don’t endorse it. First of all it’s unconstitutional“, Dragnea said.
PSD chair added that UDMR will continue to vote major projects. “UDMR has always voted the laws as they think fit, ad we are still counting on that“, Dragnea replied when asked if UDMR is conditioning their bill on voting other laws.
UDMR has tabled a draft law in Parliament on Monday, which asked for “transposition in the Romanian legislation of the provisions on the cohabiting peoples from the Resolution in Alba Iulia on December 1, 1918”. UDMR says that among these provisions there is also the possibility of setting up some separate development regions that can acquire by law a statute of special autonomy.
