PSD Chairman Liviu Dragnea will not attend the December 1 parade on the National Day of Romania and neither the reception hosted by President Iohannis at Cotroceni Palace on Friday evening.
Liviu Dragnea said he would not go because “the doctor does not recommend me to stay in the cold for hours.” It is the statement made on Thursday by the PSD leader, when asked about the December 1 parade, digi24.ro reports.
As a matter of fact, Dragnea hinted at the beginning of the week that he might have medical problems. On Monday, he announced that he would not go to the Cotroceni reception on Romania’s National Day. “I have many invitations and I will have to choose these days. I hope to be in a good health,” he said.
PSD Secretary General Codrin Stefanescu has told B1 TV private broadcaster that Dragnea has caught a cold, a kind of pneumonia and the doctors have forbidden him to get out in the cold, although he wanted to attend the December 1 parade.
“He is not forced to stay in bed, however he has to take antibiotics. He’ll be on his feet very soon,” Stefanescu said.
As for PM Viorica Dancila, although she had initially announced she might not attend the reception on the National Day at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, now she has confirmed she will go.
According to the premier’s programme announced by the Government, Viorica Dancila will attend the reception on the National Day due at Cotroceni Palace on Friday, starting 6 p.m.
PM Dancila had previously announced she would take part in the ceremony held on the National Day at the Arch of Triumph in Bucharest on Saturday.
Dancila is the only member of the ruling coalition who is going to attend the reception hosted by the head of state. Neither Calin Popescu Tariceanu nor Liviu Dragnea will take part.
