Romania will host in 2019, for the first time, the European Championships for Triathlon Multisport. 3,000 athletes from 30 countries are expected

The Romanian Triathlon Federation has announced on Tuesday that Romania will organise, for the first time, the European Championships for Triathlon Multisport, in Targu Mures, in 2019, a release informs.

“We continue our efforts to bring first class competitions in Romania and, following the success registered this year by organising the World Championships for Winter Triathlon, at Cheile Gradistei, the European Triathlon Federation (ETU) has granted us to host the European Championships for Triathlon Multisport. We have the infrastructure and the competiveness to organise such events and to aim an important tourism influx for Targu Mures,” Peter Klosz, President of the Romanian Triathlon Federation, said.

The disciplines to award the champions next year are: Duathlon – sprint and standard, Aquathlon – swimming and racing, Cross Triathlon – swimming, mountain-bike and racing, Cross Duathlon – racing and mountain-bike, Middle Distance Triathlon – half of Ironman distance and Aquabike – swimming and racing.

3,000 athletes from 30 countries are expected to compete.

The Municipality if Targu Mures is the main partner of the event.

“The modernization of the sport facilities in the city and the experience of the organising team in the past years, make us confident that we will meet the greatest sports challenge,” Targu Mures Mayor, Dr. Dorin Florea, has said.
