Romanian delegation arrived in Lisbon for Eurovision 2018

By Kevin Sherwin

The Romanian delegation, along with this years representatives “The Humans”, arrived in Lisbon early on Monday, ready to start their rehearsals for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

The band has already been to the Portuguese capital to film their “postcard video”which will be shown before they perform their song in Semi Final 2.

Since they won National selection at the end of February they have promoted their song in pre Eurovision events in Amsterdam, Madrid and Jerusalem and have won many friends.

“There is a lot of hard work still to do,” said the band’s members, but after arriving in Lisbon they were greeted by their hosts and the delegation spent Monday afternoon doing some retail therapy shopping in one of Lisbon’s large malls.

The hard work starts on Tuesday when they start their first rehearsal followed by a press conference with fans and Europe’s press.

Their second rehearsal is Friday followed by another press conference then on Sunday afternoon we have the “red carpet” opening ceremony where they get the chance to dress up and parade in front of the media before being taken for a gala dinner.

43 countries are converging on the Portuguese capital because last year Salvador Sobral with his song Amar Pelos gave Portugal their first win in the contest and this year will be Portugal’s 50th participation at the event.

I shall be joining the media circus in Lisbon later this week and once again it’s a pleasure to be part of the Romanian press as I prepare to join the delegation,

I’m an old head at this as 2018 will be my 20th Eurovision Song Contest.

During my last 19 contests I’ve heard 667 songs visited 12 capital cities and 4 Major cities traveling over 35,000 miles reporting on the greatest music show on the planet.

Let’s wish The Humans all the best and perhaps can return to Romania with the Eurovision trophy.
