Romanian start-up awarded at the Retail Business Technology Expo

Tokinomo is a Romanian start-up developer of retail advertising solutions, which won the grand prize for innovation at the 2018 Retail Business Technology Expo (RBTE), Europe’s leading event for the retail industry, held at London Olympia, on May 2-3, 2018.

According to a press release, Tokinomo is thus the only company in Romania awarded so far in this event.

Each year RBTE’s Innovation and Trail Awards celebrate and reward the innovative solutions and leading technologies that are redefining the retail sector and supporting its digital evolution.

Tokinomo’s motion sensor advertising solution, which brings products to life – through movement, sound and light – at the shelf-edge, was announced as the overall winner at RBTE’s Big Party, an opportunity for exhibitors, visitors and partners to network after the first day of the show.

“We delighted to win the award – RBTE is a great show and the Innovation and Trail Awards had so much innovation on display, so we were thrilled to be a part of it.  And to win is a real honour and testament to the dedication, passion and innovation that is behind the solution, which looks to drive forward in-store customer experience,” Ionut Vlad, Tokinomo founder, stated.

After a highly competitive shortlisting process, the judges commented on the diversity and disruptive nature of the innovation on offer across all the entries, as Matt Bradley, Show Director for RBTE, commented: “In today’s increasingly complex retail environment, innovation is critical to the success of modern multichannel retailing. The RBTE Innovation Trail and Awards hero the solutions and services that will drive future changes in the retail sector, and help ready retail businesses in futureproofing their operations – and this year we saw this in abundance.”

According to him, Tokinomo stood out to the judges for its innovative take on reaching new levels of in-store customer interaction, to drive engagement – and conversions – at the shelf edge.
