Romanians, most religious among Europeans

The Romanians are the most religious Europeans, 55% of them being ‘very religious’, according to a survey conducted by the Pew Research Center, published on Wednesday and taken over by DPA (German Press Agency).

According to the Pew Research Center’s country profile, 50% of Romanians (4th position) say that religion is very important in their lives, 50% (2nd position) attend religious services at least once a month, 44% (3rd position) that they pray daily and 64% (fourth position) say they are absolutely sure God exists.

Overall, for Europeans religion is less important than for the people in Africa, Latin America or the US, the survey reads, which points to big differences among the 34 European countries analysed.

In Italy, 27% of respondents say they are very religious, in Germany – 12%. The lowest percentages were registered in Estonia (7%), Czech Republic and Denmark (both with 8%).

The Germans are the most skeptical in terms of religion, only 10% say they are ‘absolutely sure’ God exists. As comparison, 79% of Armenians say they are sure God exists and 73% of Bosnians. The survey also reads that the country where most people go to church is Poland, 61% at least one a month.
