Romania’s rugby team in 7 has promoted to the Grand Prix Seven – the League 1 of European rugby in 7. Romania defeated Belgium 35-5 in the final, winning also the second round of the Rugby Sevens Trophy, the second European League, in Siauliai, Lithuania, rfi.ro informs.
In the semi-final, Romania defeated Latvia 40-0 and in the quarter-final defeated Israel 17-10.
In the group’s stage, Romania defeated Latvia 38-0 and Ukraine 33-0, but was defeated by Luxembourg 22-24.
At the end of the season, the first team in the general rankings is promoted to Rugby Europe Grand Prix – League 1.
Rugby in 7 is an Olympic sport and follows the same rules as rugby in 15, the difference is that the match lasts 14 minutes divided in two halves.
