Ryanair to close its base in Timisoara

Ireland-based Ryanair, the largest low-cost carrier in Europe, will close its one aircraft Timisoara base as of March 25, the company announced in a press release.

Two routes to Milan and Bucharest to/from Timisoara will continue to operate on non-based aircraft for the Summer 2018 schedule.

Ryanair’s decision to close its Timisoara base results from its weak commercial performance, at a time when there is growing demand for Ryanair aircraft at other airports across Europe.

”All affected customers will be notified by email and SMS, and advised of their options – either a full refund or a free transfer onto an alternative route,” Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer, David O’Brien said, adding: ”Ryanair’s current winter programme which includes seven Timisoara routes will continue to operate as planned until the closure of the base, and we apologise to any customers inconvenienced by this decision.”
