Senate Speaker, Calin Popescu Tariceanu, will have talks on Thursday, in Brussels, with the European Commission Vice-President, Frans Timmermans. The agenda includes topics related to the judiciary, rule of law and the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM).
A release from the Senate reads that “the talks will focus on observing the citizens’ freedoms and liberties and the institutional relations according to the rule of law.”
The agenda also includes the stage of monitoring the judiciary in Romania, under the CVM and other issues of bilateral interests concerning the European Union, digi24.ro informs.
The second assessment mission under the CVM in 2018 was conducted during June 25-26, with the EC representatives meeting the representatives of the institutions involved in achieving the CVM objectives.
