The draft bill amending the Criminal Procedure Code was voted by the Senate plenary session, the Chamber of Deputies will vote as a decision-making body.
The legislative initiative was adopted with 74 votes to 28, with no abstentions.
The draft amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code aims at transposing the EU Directive on the benefit of doubt, among the changes is the destruction of illegally obtained recorded evidence.
The Special Committee for the laws of justice gave a favourable vote to the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code. There were 15 votes in favour and 3 against.
Another amendment refers to the fact that a person can benefit from the reduction of the sentence for a denunciation he has done only if it is done within a maximum period of six months from the date when the person became aware of the offense.
