11 people tried to kill themselves on New Year’s Eve
Eleven people from Bucharest and Ilfov county tried to commit suicide on New Year’s Eve and on January 1, the manager of the Bucharest-Ilfov ambulance service, Alis Grasu told Mediafax. Fortunately, all of them have been saved. Statistics show that the number of those trying to kill themselves is on the rise during winter holidays.
At the same time, in the past 24 hours, there were 1,224 requests for medical aid, with 735 of them being emergency cases.
However, compared to last year, the number of the requests dropped by 263 during January 1 at 8 a.m.- January 2 at 8 a.m., but still the number of people complaining of digestive or alcohol problems remained high, over 250.
The sufferings included colic, stomach aches, diarrhea, but also alcoholic comas. Other 61 people passed out on the street due to various reasons, some due to overdrinking.
