4,000 violins burn in fire at instrument museum branch in Toplita
About 4,000 violins have burnt in a fire seizing a musical instruments museum in Toplita, Harghita county on Monday night. The building in Toplita is a branch of the instrument museum in Reghin. 90 people got involved to rake out the fire. Damages are mounting to RON 1 M.
The musical instrument section in Toplita was hosted by a 2,000-sqm area where about 4,000 violins were stored. An electric compressor, electric tools and engines also burnt, as well as the roof of the production hall and the roof of the row material storage, on an area of about 3,720 square meters.
The manager of the section is to assess the damages and the number of the burnt violins might increase.
Firemen established the fire has been caused by a short circuit after the tools and technological devices have been left under tension.
The damages mount to about RON 1 M, while firefighters managed to save goods assessed to RON 1.5 M.
45 firemen from the emergency inspectorates in Harghita and Mures, 26 civil firefighters from Borsec, Lazarea, Sarmas and Subcetate and 15 employees if the factory have fought the flames for hours.
Their intervention was aggravated by the low temperatures of minus 15 Celsius degrees.
There were no victims and no need for the SMURD ambulance’s intervention.
