The Prosecutor’s Office upon the District 1 Court is extending the investigation in the case of violence against the riot police (the Gendarmerie) during the Diaspora rally on August 10. Prosecutors say that 62 gendarmes have been attacked during the protest.
Yet not every of them filed complaints to the Prosecutor’s Office.
Over 700 criminal complaints have been lodged so far to the Military Prosecutor’s Office, coming from people who suffered injuries and have been attacked during the protest. Some of the complainants will also ask for compensations.
Military prosecutors have asked for a tox screen of the tear gas used by the gendarmes on August 10, while investigations to identify the people involved in committing the violent acts, including among gendarmes, are under way.
