90 pc of Romanians wouldn’t vote a mayor investigated for corruption, survey says

More than 90% of Romanians argue that they would not vote for mayor a person who is under investigation or trial for corruption, while 88.4% think that public personalities who have been convicted for corruption should never occupy another public office, a survey conducted by INSCOP Research for newspaper ‘Adevarul’ during October 23-November 1 reveals.
Thus, 91.9% of respondents would not vote for mayor a person who is under investigation or is investigated for corruption, 5.4% would vote for a person who is under investigation/trial for corruption and 2.7% say they do not know/ do not answer.
According to the survey, 88.4% of Romanians say public personalities who have been convicted for corruption should never run for a public office.
The vast majority of people say the state anti-corruption actions are very important (50.1%) and important (36.7%). Only 8.7% of Romanians say corruption is less important, and 1.7% deems it as unimportant.
56.6% of the interviewed believe that only some politicians in Romania are corrupt, while 41% say all politicians are corrupt.
The survey’s sample was of 1,098 people, with data MPE of plus/minus 3% at a confidence level of 95%. The method used was the opinion poll based on a questionnaire applied by interviewers at the respondents’ homes.
