During Minister of National Defence. Mihai Fifor’s official visit in the United States of America last week, there were discussions with the representatives of Bell Helicopter about a potential collaboration in the future within the endowment programme of the Romanian defence sector, namely about the possibility of acquiring Bell AH-1Z Viper and UH-1Y Venom helicopters, Romanian Ministry of Defence announced on Friday.

The Romanian delegation visited the Bell company’s Advanced Vertical Lift Center, while minister Fifor and Bell CEO Mitch Snyder discussed about the collaboration opportunities focusing on the two helicopter models.

The Romanian Government is currently assessing AH-1Z military chopper and UH-1Y attack helicopter, which represent the latest cutting-edge generation of Bell combat helicopters and which can be used in various missions across the theatres of operations.

The AH-1Z Viper and the UH-1Y Venom have 85% common components. They both can serve in extreme weather conditions, from the Arctic zone to the dessert area.
