A farmer in Galati, a county under quarantine due to the African swine fever outbreak, has charges the Sanitary-Veterinary Authority that it had a late reaction when requested to intervene, arriving at the farm 3 days later. Almost half of the pigs were dying, stiri.tvr.ro informs.

The farmer announced last week that one of the pigs was sick, the veterinary came to the farm but made no decision.

Three days after the pig has died, the veterinarians arrived at the farm, made some tests and left the animal at the site, awaiting the lab results from Iasi.

The authorities have another opinion.

Meanwhile, 7 pigs have died, out of the 19.

The lab results have confirmed the swine fever and the veterinarians requested the farmer to bury the dead pigs. As the farmer refused, the authorities dug holes in the ground and dumped the dead animals in there.

The medics, gendarmes and policemen in the area have started the pigs slaughtering.

Some of the farmers in the area complain that the pigs haven’t been weighted and have been registered on paper with lower weights.

The farmer in Galati suspects the African swine fever was brought by the wild boars coming from a forest nearby.
