The selection procedure for appointing the new Prosecutor General will be resumed, sources from the Justice Ministry have said on Wednesday.

Justice Ministr Tudorel Toader announced on Wednesday that the decision on the candidate has been made and he will inform about it later in the day.

“The decision has been made. We’ve gone today through the interviews and, as I said in the morning, I will communicate the conclusion later in the day,” Toader said.

Four candidates were interviewed on Wednesday: incumbent Prosecutor General Augustin Lazar, DIICOT prosecutor Marian Drilea, former DIICOT chief Daniel Horodniceanu and the former deputy of Laura Codruta Kovesi, prosecutor Gabriela Scutea.

The commission for the interviews included, besides Minister Tudorel Toader, three State Secretaries: Mariana Mot, Nicolea Liviu Popa and Octavian Costea.
