Almost 400 Romanians and foreigners repatriated from Israel in the night from Saturday to Sunday
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that, following the steps taken by the Crisis Cell, 346 Romanian and foreign citizens were repatriated from Israel, on the night of Saturday to Sunday, with two flights operated by the TAROM company – 189 the first flight, respectively 157 with the second second flight -, measure taken in the context of the deterioration of the security situation in the State of Israel and the Gaza Strip.
“At the same time, the representatives of the Crisis Cell of the MAE coordinated with the Israeli authorities and the Romanian Patriarchate for the management of groups of Romanian citizens and Romanian pilgrims at Ben Gurion Airport, in order to ensure their accommodation, until repatriation solutions are identified. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs uses this opportunity to thank the Israeli authorities for the support offered for the safe repatriation of Romanian citizens”, says a press release from the ministry.
Media reports just now say there are also an aircraft sent by the Government that repatriated another group of Romanians from Israel and that there is another one on its way.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) reiterates the recommendation addressed to Romanian citizens who intend to travel to the State of Israel to reschedule their trip and follow the “Travel Alerts” section on the MAE website – https://www.mae.ro/travel-alerts/2938.
Romanian citizens who are in the territory of this state can contact the Embassy of Romania in Tel Aviv and announce their presence in the region, thus communicating their identification data and their coordinates to the e-mail address telaviv@mae.ro and to the telephone number permanence of the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv: +972 54 5643279, as well as that of the Consulate General in Haifa: +972 543 998 038, in order to be contacted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends consulting the Internet pages http://telaviv.mae.ro, https://consular-protection.ec.europa.eu/travel-advice_en and www.mae.ro – the “Travel Advice” column and reminds the fact that Romanian citizens traveling abroad have at their disposal the SMS alert service, related to the information campaign “An SMS can save your life!”.
On Saturday, President Klaus Iohannis declared in Lisbon that around 800-900 Romanians are in Israel, many of them tourists, and that solutions are being sought to bring those who want to return quickly to the country.
Wizz Air cancels all flights to and from Israel
On the other hand, Wizz Air Sunday cancelled all its flights to and from Israel.
“Due to the situation in Israel, we have canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv from Sunday, October 8. Wizz Air is contacting affected passengers directly, via email or SMS, and offering them options for rescheduling or refunds, as well as accommodation. We recommend passengers who have booked their tickets through travel agencies or online platforms to contact them for changes to their bookings. We continue to monitor the situation closely and are in contact with the relevant authorities. “Wizz Air apologizes for any inconvenience, stressing that the safety and security of passengers, crew and aircraft is its number one priority,” the airline’s representatives announced on Saturday.
