Almost the entire country is under a storm alert
After the heatwave, the rains come in Romania. Meteorologists have issued a code orange alert targeting the counties in the mountain area and a code yellow valid for almost the entire country.
From 12:00 p.m. until tonight at 9:00 p.m., there will be periods of torrential showers in the south-west of Transylvania and on extended mountain areas. In short periods of time or through accumulation, the water quantities will be 30…40 l/sq m and in small areas more than 50…70 l/sq m. Also, at 10:00 a.m. a yellow code of atmospheric instability came into effect.
According to ANM, in the mountains, in the south of Banat, in Oltenia, Maramureș, Moldova, Muntenia, in continental Dobrogea and in most of Transylvania, the weather will be unstable. Instability will manifest itself in the mountain areas at first, and in the evening and night in the other regions as well.
There will be torrential downpours, increased winds and lightning. In short intervals of time or through accumulation, the water quantities will be 20…30 l/m2 and isolated over 40 l/m2. In some places there will be gales (gusts generally of 50…70 km/h) and hail. Atmospheric instability will remain accentuated in the next two days, in most of the country.
