An employee supports 1.3 pensioners, in 2032 will support twice as much
An employee supports 1.3 pensioners today, but in 2032 will support 2.5, said on Wednesday Raluca Tintoiu, president of the Association for Privately Administered Pensions in Romania (APAPR), during a conference, capital.ro informs.
“Currently an employee pays contributions to support 1.3 pensioners, in 2032 this ratio will change dramatically so that a single employee will have to support twice as much, which will put pressure on the public pension system. There will be less money for the state pension system,” explained Raluca Tintoiu.
According to her, the employers should do more to promote voluntary pension system in Romania.
The APAPR chief said last month in an interview for Agerpres that the state pension will reach, in the period 2030-2032, a level of approximately 29% of the last salary, the wage replacement rate by the pension which will go up to about 40% in 2032, when payments from Pillar II will become operational.
