Another accident in Hungary – Romanian driver dies as his van crashes into large lorry

A new deadly accident involving Romanian citizens has taken place in Hungary. A van driven by a Romanian driver has crashed into a large lorry on highway M5, some 32 km away from Budapest, digi24.ro reports.

The van driven by the Romanian citizen was registered in Timis County, the same source informs.

The driver died instantly. The highway was closed on the direction to Budapest. The accident occurred on Thursday, at about 10.00h.

According to other sources, both vehicles were registered in Romania.

On the other hand, the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs that “preliminary information reveals that, following the accident, the driver of one of the vehicles has died. A consular team with the Romanian Embassy in Budapest has gone to the site to grant consular assistance. The Romanian embassy is monitoring the situation and is in connection with local authorities.”

Nine Romanian citizens lost their lives Tuesday evening in an accident occurred 60 km away from Budapest. The driver had no license for passenger transport and the registration card was suspended by police some two months ago.

The van was speeding and while trying to overtake a vehicle went into collision with a large lorry coming on the opposite lane. The accident occurred on National Road 4 in Hungary, about 60 km from Budapest. The driver was streaming live on Facebook when the accident occurred.
