The Bucharest Court of Appeals has ruled on Wednesday to force the prosecutors’ section with the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) to recognize the professional status of Laura Codruta Kovesi, i.e. the status with the Prosecutor’s Office upon the High Court of Cassation and Justice.
On July 11, 2018, Prosecutor General Augustin Lazar delegated Kovesi, revoked from the DNA helm, as prosecutor at the Control Service with the Prosecutor’s Office.
In October 2018, Justice Minister Tudorel Toader stated that, following GEO on amending the laws of justice, Laura Codruta Kovesi, if ranked as prosecutor to court, cannot work for the Prosecutor’s Office.
In November 2018, the prosecutors’ section of CSM rejected the appeal filed by Kovesi for the recognition of the professional status. The same section rejected in February 2019 Kovesi’s appeal against the decision not to recognize her status for the Prosecutor’s Office.
