Cluj metropolitan Andrei Andreicut stated during the pro-life rally in the city on Saturday that Romania would counter the demographic decline if “all young families had at least three children: one for the father, one for the mother and one for the country and church.”
“Without being able to make an opinion poll, I think that all those gathered here are sharing our faith. If only we could get into the souls of those who are not here and made all those 22 million of abortions (allegedly made in Romania since the 50s up to 2016). From a pragmatic stance, the country would not fall down if all young families in Romania had at least three children: one for the father, one for the mother and one for the country and church. If so, we would not fall down demographically. Unfortunately, families with good financial position restrict to having one child, maximum two children. Many of them won’t be able to form a family and you see the result. It makes our heart ache and we see that lots of villages disappear,” said the metropolitan before people start marching in the rally against abortion in Cluj.
Over 500 locals from Cluj joined the rally, along with the Cluj metropolitan, the bishop of the Greek-Catholic Bishopric in Cluj, Florentin Crihalmeanu and many pastors.
Another thousands people attended the “pro-life March” in several cities in Romania, Bucharest, Alba Iulia, Timisoara, Iasi, Ploiesti or Sibiu.
In Bucharest there were over 4,000 people joining the march.
