The National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) asked Bucharest Local Police for documents related to some procurement operations. The Local Police is under the authority of the Bucharest City Hall.
Among the acquisitions from public money made by the Local Police there are 30 Dacia vehicles, a snow melting machine and….shoes!
The DNA’s request has been revealed by PNL councilman Ciprian Ciucu.
Anti-corruption prosecutors also check an examination for the executive manager position within the Department of Safety and Public Order of the Local Police.
In retort, Bucharest mayoress Gabriela Firea says that DNA has frequently sent requests related to the city hall’s documents during her mandate and also during the term of the former mayor.
“I have nothing to hide,” said Firea, slamming the opposition, saying “these people disfavor the fact that we have adopted a new administrative pattern”.
Firea added that all hiring in the City Hall are within the law.
