APIA directors targeted in EU funds embezzlement case. EUR 26m estimated prejudice
Anti-corruption prosecutors are conducting searches at two headquarters of the Payments and Intervention Agency for Agriculture (APIA) on Monday in a file related to EU funds embezzlement dating back in 2012. The investigation is also endorsed by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF).
Several directors of APIA offices in Bucharest and Ilfov are targeted in this case, where the prejudice is estimated to EUR 26m. They are to be taken for hearing at the National Anti-corruption Directorate HQs.
According to DNA, prosecutors were conducting 18 searches in Dambovita, Ilfov, Giurgiu and Bucharest, with three headquarters of public institution, private residences and companies’ HQs.
