At least 4 people, including three Romanian tourists, die in car crash in Turkey


At least four people, including three Romanian tourists, have died in a car crash near Kemer, in southwestern Turkey on Sunday afternoon, the local press reported.

The driver of a van, with four Romanian tourists on board, has lost the control of the vehicle, went off the road and hit a tree on the side of the road. The Turkish police has not established yet the exact cause of the accident.

Three Romanians, members of the same family, have died on the spot, and a tourist guide from Russia, has died later on due to the injuries. Another Romanian, the driver of the van and another guide have been injured, Demirören Haber Ajansı (DHA) press agency said.

The three Romanians who died are a couple and their daughter. The daughter, Andreea Ilies, used to run for a mayor seat in Blaj during the local elections in 2016. Ilies family was well known  in Blaj.

According to sources close to the family, Andreea Ilies, her husband and her parents were on holiday in Antalya, and the accident occurred on the way from the airport to a hotel in Kemer.

Andreea Ilies’ husband has been severely injured.
