Update: Baby with two penises born at Maternity Hospital in Ploiesti brought to Bucharest

A baby boy with a rare malformation has been born at the Maternity Hospital in Ploiesti. The baby has two penises, with the doctors saying they have never met such a case before.

The medical manager of the hospital says it’s a shock for the parents, but also for doctors, as this malformation is extremely rare. He argues that specialised genetic tests must be conducted to make a correct diagnosis and to see if there are more malformations at stake, which have not been yet tracked down.

Asked about the baby’s health condition, the manager said he cannot provide further details, as the medical act is confidential.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, the baby has been brought to “Marie Curie” Hospital for Children in Bucharest.

Doctors say the baby’s mother had not had any medical tests throughout the pregnancy.

“Marie Curie” hospital’s spokesperson says the baby’s life is not in danger, but it is a spectacular medical case. he says the mother, aged over 20 had not blood tests or ultrasound during pregnancy.
