Bad weather alert: Code orange and yellow for torrential rain, gales and hail

After the scorching heat in Romania, the National Meteorological Administration issued, on Wednesday morning, code orange and code yellow alerts for torrential rains, thunderstorms, wind gusts and hail in most parts of the country.

ANM has issued warnings torrential rains, gales, lightning and hail in several areas of the country.

The code orange alers is valid from Wednesday, from 12:00 until 23:00. According to meteorologists, in the north and east of Muntenia, the east of Transylvania and in Moldova, there will be periods of increased atmospheric instability. There will be strong wind gusts of 70…80 km/h, storms in some areas, torrential showers, thunderstorms and hail. In short time intervals (1-3 hours) or through accumulation, the water quantities will be 35…40 l/m2 and isolated over 50…60 l/m2.

A code yellow warning is also in force, which came into effect at 10:00 a.m. and is valid until Thursday at 2 a.m. During the mentioned interval, in most of the country, there will be periods of atmospheric instability. There will be showers, thunderstorms, short-term wind gusts of 55…65 km/h and isolated gales and hail.

In Bucharest, from Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until Thursday, at 2 a.m., the weather will be warm and unstable in the afternoon and evening, when the clouds will temporarily intensify and there will be showers (10…15 l/m , possibly isolated over 20 l/m2), thunderstorms, wind gusts over 55…60 km/h and gales. The maximum temperature will be 32…33 degrees.
