Bucharest in the top 10 European cities for part-time work in 2024
With almost 35 million workers in part-time employment across Europe, part-time work continues to be an appealing type of employment for many. But which cities in Europe offer the best conditions for part-time workers?
To find out, Solopress has analysed 40 European cities against a series of metrics, including total number of part-time roles available, average salaries for part-time work, and living costs, to determine where the best location is for this type of employment.

Ranking number one is Tirana, Albania – with a monthly transport pass priced at only 16.37€ – the cheapest of all cities for part-time workers. Sofia, Bulgaria ranked as the 2nd best city for part-time workers with the average salary for this type of employment being 1,131.69€ and the average rent per month being as low as 478.32 €.
Bucharest ranks third, while it records the second highest number of total part-time jobs, with 134 available throughout the city.
Madrid, Spain, is ranked as the ninth best spot for part-time workers, having the highest number of jobs available in the top 10 list with 1,197 listings.
The European cities where you can earn the most for part-time work
Bern, Switzerland takes the top spot for the most lucrative European city for part-time work, offering employees up to €6,296.74 each month.
After a significant drop, coming in second and third positions are Luxembourg and England’s capital, London, offering part-time workers between €3,849.35 and €4,512.31 per month.

The most affordable cities in Europe
Taking gold again, the most affordable European city is Tirana, Albania, which offers the cheapest monthly transport pass of all for just €16.37 and affordable rent for €481.76 a month.
Following closely behind is Skopje, North Macedonia – here you can expect to pay just €292.74 a month for rent – the cheapest of all European cities!
