Mayor General of Bucharest, Gabriela Firea, stated in an interview on Monday that she intends to ask the citizens of Bucharest if they want to introduce an environmental tax. “Without the environmental tax, all the car wrecks in Europe have arrived in Romania and especially in the capital city. We cannot go on like that,” Firea said.
“We will ask the people of Bucharest if they want to introduce an environmental tax. If they agree, we will introduce this fee, because we will not be able to travel in Bucharest anymore. All the car wrecks in Europe have arrived in Romania and especially in the capital. We cannot continue like that,” Gabriela Firea has told Adevarul Live.
Regarding the other solutions for the fluidization of traffic in the capital city, Firea said: “We have to copy the successful models in Europe. The public transport’s fleet needs to be renewed, the citizens simply cannot breathe without air conditioning. We are organizing an auction for 400 buses Euro 6. We also want to buy 100 trams, 100 trolleybuses and 100 electric buses. We will have new buses as soon as possible,” Firea said.
