The police have a criminal case regarding the violence at the protest in front of the Central Electoral Office (BEC) on the night of March 9-10, and several people have been questioned and three detained, but information such as “escorts are being carried out with difficulty at the polling stations, there are not enough people for those who are being detained on the conveyor belt” is untrue, the Capital Police reports.

“The information disseminated in the public space is not in accordance with reality and is presented in a manner intended to bring about infringements on the attributions of the judicial police bodies, thus undermining the trust of citizens in public institutions,” the Capital Police states about some posts that appeared on social networks.

The authorities emphasize that in the file opened after the protest, investigations are being conducted for crimes of disturbing public order and peace, outrage and destruction, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bucharest Tribunal.

“As we have already stated publicly, the criminal file was opened following the events of the evening of March 9, when several people threw objects at the gendarmes, destroyed a special vehicle of a television trust, street furniture and assets of commercial companies in the area,” the Police explain.

In this context, several people who participated in the protest and who may have information relevant to the investigation were cited, to be heard by the Police, according to the legal norms in force.

Several arrest warrants were also issued for individuals suspected of committing the crimes, and three men suspected of committing the acts were detained for 24 hours in this case.
