Hydrologists have issued a code orange alert for floods on the Romanian side of the Danube until April 20, targeting Mehedinţi, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Constanţa, Brăila, Ialomiţa, Tulcea and Galaţi counties.
The Gruia-Calafat sector of the Danube is under the code orange for floods today, Mehedinti and Dolj respectively, Calafat-Giurgiu sector, meaning Dolj, Olt, Teleorman and Giurgiu counties until April 16, at 4 p.m., and the Cernavoda-Braila sector and the Danube Delta until April 20, at 4 p.m., with Constanţa, Brăila, Ialomiţa, Tulcea and Galaţi counties being targeted.
Iron Gates and Calafat areas (Mehedinti and Dolj counties) will be under code yellow alert for floods by April 15, while the Calafat sector of the Danube- Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, Giurgiu, Călăraşi, Ialomiţa, Brăila, Galaţi, Constanţa and Tulcea counties will be under floods warning until April 20.
High temperatures mixed with rains during the weekend
If the weather has been unusually warm this week countrywide, with temperatures climbing up to 27C in the west, northwest and center, the temperatures will slightly fall during the weekend, with rains and thunderstorms expected in the western, northern and central country. High temperatures up to 25C will prevail only in the south.
There will be rain showers in the north and east on Saturday, but overall the weather will stay warm, likewise on Sunday.
