Code Orange for storms, hailstorm and torrential rain in 25 counties

Meteorologists have issued on Thursday a Code Orange warning for storms, hailstorms and torrential rain for 25 counties, in force until Friday at 1.00h.

The counties warned are: Timiș, Arad, Hunedoara, Bihor, Alba, Cluj, Sălaj, Mureș, Bistrița-Năsăud, Maramureș, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Brașov, Covasna, Harghita, Suceava, Botoșani, Iași, Neamț, Bacău, Vrancea, Galați, Brăila, Vaslui and Buzău, digi24.ro informs.

In Moldavia and Maramures, then in Transylvania, Crisana, Banat and north-eastern Muntenia wind gusts will reach 80-100 km/h, with storms, electric discharges and torrential rain. In the north-western regions hailstorms are expected. Water quantities will exceed 40 litres per square metre and 50-60 l/sqm on isolated areas.

The Code Orange warning comes into force on Thursday, at 13.00h and expires on Friday, at 1.00h.

Eleven counties in the southern parts of Romania are under Code Yellow warning until Friday, at 1.00h. Wind gusts, electric discharges and torrential rain accompanied by hailstorms are expected. Water quantities will reach 20-25 l/sqm and 35-40 l/sqm on isolated areas. The counties under the Code Yellow warning are Caraș Severin, Mehedinți, Gorj, Vâlcea, Argeș, Dâmbovița, Prahova, Ialomița, Călărași, Constanța and Tulcea.

Another Code Yellow warning is to come into force as of Friday at 1.00h, valid until 6.00h. Counties under alert are Timiș, Caraș Severin, Mehedinți, Hunedoaara, Gorj, Vâlcea, Sibiu, Brașov, Argeș, Dâmbovița, Prahova, Covasna, Vrancea and Buzău.
