Meteorologists have issued on Friday a Code Orange warning for abundant rainfall and atmospheric instability in 22 counties and Bucharest and a Code Yellow warning for unstable weather in 23 counties.
During May 31, 15.00h-June 1, 10.00h, during the Code Orange warning, most Muntenia and Dobrogea, northern Oltenia and the southern part of Moldavia, Southern Carpathians and the Curvature Carpathians – torrential rain will fall with water quantities amounting to 4-050 litres per square metre and 60-80 l/sq m in eastern and south-eastern Romania, with storms, hail and electric discharges.
Counties under warning: Vaslui, Galaţi, Brăila, Ialomiţa, Călăraşi, Giurgiu, Buzău, Vrancea, Bacău, Dâmboviţa, Argeş, Vâlcea, Gorj, municipiul Bucureşti and, partly the counties of Tulcea, Constanţa, Covasna, Braşov, Sibiu, Alba, Hunedoara, Caraş-Severin and Mehedinţi.
The Code Yellow is in force during May 31, 12.00h-June 1, 10.00h, warning of unstable weather. Water quantities may exceed 25 l/sq m and 40-50 l/sq m on isolated areas.
The Code Yellow is in force for the counties of Botoşani, Iaşi, Suceava, Neamţ, Maramureş, Bistriţa-Năsăud, Mureş, Harghita, Cluj, Timiş, Dolj, Olt, Teleorman, and partly the counties of Caraş-Severin, Mehedinţi, Constanţa, Tulcea, Covasna, Braşov, Sibiu, Alba, Covasna and Hunedoara.
