Code Yellow for snowfalls and rainfalls for half the country
The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has issued on Wednesday a Code Yellow warning for rainfalls, sleet and wind in half the country.
The warning comes into force on Thursday as of 4.00h and ends on Friday at 14.00h.
During this interval rain and sleet is expected, mainly at altitudes above 1,500 metres, with snowfalls and blizzard in Banat Mountains, Southern Carpathians and Curvature Carpathians.
At low altitudes the rain is expected to melt the existent snow layer.
Moderate snowfalls are expected in most of Moldavia and in Eastern Carpathians.
In the county of Vaslui and Vrancea glazed frost is likely, with winds of 40-55 km/h.
Temporary rain is expected in southern and south-eastern regions, with winds of 50-70 km/h.
In Bucharest the weather will be cold in the next two days, with rain on the night of Wednesday to Thursday, and winds of 40-45 km/h.
As of Thursday morning until Friday morning, the wind will continue to blow with speeds of 50-55 km/h with temporary rains.
The wind becomes stronger on Friday and could be accompanied by sleet and snow. Temperatures will slowly increase up to a high of 2 degrees Celsius Friday at noon.
