The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) has issued on Thursday a Code Yellow warning for torrential rain in almost all the country, in force as of Friday morning. The water quantities will exceed 40-50 litres per square metre.
The warning comes into force on Friday, at 06.00h and will expire at 23.00h.
The meteorologists warn that on Friday there will be torrential rain, storms, electric discharges and hail on isolated areas at first in Banat, Crişana and Maramureş, then in Transylvania, Oltenia, most of Moldavia and northern Muntenia.
In short intervals, the rainfall will register 20-25 litres per square metre and on isolated areas 40-50 litres per square metre.
Also on Friday, a bad weather warning will come into force as of 16.00h, valid until Saturday morning. The meteorologists warn that in Muntenia, Dobrogea and south-eastern Moldavia the atmospheric instability will be high for short intervals, with wind gusts turning into tempest, electric discharges, torrential rain and hail. On the night of Friday to Saturday it will rain in central Romania and in the north-east.
In Bucharest, the atmospheric instability will increase on Friday and Saturday, although temperatures will peak to 32 degrees Celsius.
