Collector from Bucharest “unveils” Morris Cowley car manufactured in 1924
A Morris Cowley “Bullnose” model manufactured in 1924 was brought to RAR Grivița (Romanian Auto Register’s Office) by a car collector. The nearly 100-year-old car was imported to Romania to join other classic cars.
The Morris Cowley model has a four-cylinder petrol engine that can develop 26 hp. A characteristic of the brand, in those days, was the rounded radiator, which earned it the nickname “bullnose”.
The buyer was surprised to find that the vehicle had the original registration document, issued 100 years ago.
The “bullnose” Morris Oxford is a series o motor car models produced by Morris of the United Kingdom, from 1913 to 1926. It was named by W R Morris after the city in which he grew up and which his cars were to industrialise.
The Continental Cowley, shown to the press in April 1915, had a larger engine (1495 cc against 1018 cc), longer, wider and better equipped version of the first Morris Oxford with the same “Bullnose” radiator; in addition it could carry a four-passenger body. To reduce the price many components were bought from United States suppliers.
