The Constanta National Anti-corruption Department (DNA) prosecutors have started the criminal investigation for taking bribe against three MDs working with the Constanta County Hospital for Emergencies, one of them being the head of the Cardiology and Cardio-vascular Clinic. According to a release from DNA, the indictees requested RON 3,000 from an informant as condition to perform heart surgery, an operation on which the life of the patient depended.

The three have been arrested for 24 hours. The three are: Marius Militaru, head of the Cardiology and Cardio-vascular Clinic; Dorin Arhire, anaesthetist with the Constanta County Hospital for Emergencies; Nicoleta Arhire, anaesthetist with Constanta County Hospital for Emergencies.

The three are to be presented on Tuesday to the Constanta Tribunal for a 30-day preventive arrest term.

Danut Capatana, the manager of Constanta County Hospital for Emergencies, said on Monday the DNA intervention was carried out after information received from a patient that had been operated and then discharged on December 11.
