The new management of the Suceava County Hospital has resigned on Wednesday evening few weeks after it had been appointed. The manager Florin Filip and the medical director Doina Ganea Motan hve resigned, while the medical care director Mihaela Hrenciuc is in self-isolation at home.

Doctors from the hospital contacted the county prefect Alexandru Moldovan to inform him about the resignations, asking him to take the necessary actions and name a new management.

Health Minister Nelu Tataru has left for Suceava today.

200 physicians and nurses are infected with the novel coronavirus in Suceava, as well as former and current patients. 30 patients have died of COVID-19 so far. The entire county has been placed on total lockdown on Monday in an effort to contain the spread of the virus.

Prosecutors have opened a criminal file for foiling disease control in Suceava after the county hospital and the entire county had become the epicenter of the coronavirus cases in Romania, with hundreds of doctors, nurses and patients infected. Prosecutors argue the infections had come after the aggravated deeds of abuse of office and forgery allegedly committed by the county’s health authorities and by the former hospital management.
