Criminal case for manslaughter opened in the case of Craiova hospital blood transfusions

Prosecutors started in rem investigation in the case of the dead patients following blood transfusions at the Filantropia Hospital in Craiova, southern Romania.
The investigators probe into manslaughter charges, arguing that necropsies on the two patients revealed that the 81-year-old woman had died due to a cardiac and respiratory insufficiency, while the 670year-old man died following cardiac and respiratory insufficiency and acute mieloblastic leukemia.
The Dolj Public Healthcare Direction checked the city hospital, establishing that 12 blood transfusions have been performed at the Hematology Ward on Friday, with six patients showing adverse reactions. Subsequently two of them passed away.
