Criminal file for fraud opened in the case of Capra Chalet avalanche

The local investigators from Arges opened a criminal case after 60 people were stuck at Capra Chalet on Transfăgărăşan after an avalanche. Tourists ignored the restrictions and, to reach the cabin, used a road closed to traffic since October.

“Continuing the checks regarding the event that took place on the night of February 4 to 5, on DN 7C, in the area of ​​a tourist accommodation unit, the police officers from the Albeştii de Argeş Rural Police Department are conducting investigations in a criminal case under the supervision to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Court of Argeş, drawn up under the aspect of committing the crime of fraud, according to art. 244 of the Criminal Code”, the Argeş County Police Inspectorate announced on Tuesday.

Also, the police are conducting investigations in order to identify the drivers of the vehicles that were damaged as a result of the avalanche, in order to issue car repair permits and take the necessary legal measures.

“Until now, the identity of the people who were at the tourist accommodation unit has been established and 14 vehicles have been identified, but until the issuance of this communication, it was not possible to extract them, in order to ascertain the damage and draw up the legal documents”, the police says.

According to the data previously sent by IPJ Argeş, DN 7C is closed to traffic, from kilometer 104, since October 30, 2022, this aspect being signaled by signs along DN 7C, but also by an indicator and barrier at kilometer 104.
