Darius Valcov, charged by DIICOT with disclosure of secrets jeopardizing national security
Former Finance Minister Darius Valcov, currently state adviser of Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, has been charged with the criminal offence of disclosure of secrets jeopardizing national security, in the case of posting on Facebook the protocol signed by the General Prosecutor’s Office with the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI), judicial sources have told ziare.com.
The sources say the prosecution has started at the end of February, with Valcov summoned twice by the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT). The state adviser has refused to make any statements in this case, the judicial sources say. The criminal offense is disclosure of secrets jeopardizing national security and is punishable by imprisonment from 1 to 5 years.
The file was opened following a notification from SRI on August 28, 2018 and has been connected with a notification from the Prosecutor General’s Office. Part of the case, concerning Adina Florea, deputy Chief Prosecutor with the Special Section for Investigating Magistrates (SIIJ) was rejected by SIIJ early this year.
