Death toll due to flu reaches 73

The number of people who died due to flu has reached 73, the National Centre for Disease Supervision and Control (CNSCBT) informs on Sunday.

The last person who died of influenza had pre-existing medical conditions and was not vaccinated against flu.

It is about a 58-year-old woman from Hunedoara County, informs.

The National Public Health Institute informed on Thursday that 300 new flu cases have been reported lately, so the total number exceeds 1,000.

Most of them were in Bucharest, Iasi and Constanta. The flu intensity has increased in Bucharest, Constanta, Iasi and Olt; the intensity has been medium in Bihor and Arges.

“Let’s hope this cold wave will bring a downward trend, there has been a decrease since last week,” Health Minister Sorina Pintea said on Thursday.
