DIICOT reports record seizure in Nadlac customs: Five tons of heroin precursors

The chief prosecutor of the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), Felix Bănilă, has announced on Friday that five tons of heroin precursors and over 20 kilos of cocaine had been seized during a routine check at Nadlac customs office on August 22.

Following a routine check carried out by the Border Police at Nadlac border cross on August 22 on several cars registered abroad and driven by a foreign citizen, around five tons of acetic anhydride and 20 kilograms of cocaine of 99 pc purity have been tracked down,” DIICOT head said, explaining that the acetic anhydride is a drug precursor.

One ton of heroin can be obtained out of those 5 tones of acetic anhydride,” he added.

A person has been arrested for 30 days  in this case.
