British Council is organizing the fourth edition of the Education UK Exhibition in Bucharest, the only fair in Romania featuring British universities only. The fair is due at Sheraton Bucharest Hotel (5-7 Calea Dorobantilor) on November 26, during 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The entrance is free. 22 universities and two colleges will present their educational offer for Romanian youngsters.

The fair will also host several presentations and seminars on various topics, performed by the representative of the attendee universities.

The UK Gov’t informed in October that the European Union students applying for university places in the 2017 to 2018 academic year will still have access to student funding support. The government announced on October 11 that EU students applying for a place at an English university or further education institution in the 2017 to 2018 academic year will continue to be eligible for student loans and grants – and will be for the duration of their course, even if the UK exits the European Union during that period.

So, Romanian pupils interested in studying in the UK will be able to review the university bids at the upcoming fair, where they will have individual meetings with representatives of UK universities that can provide information about their current offer of undergraduate and postgraduate courses or find more about the scholarships and bursaries available for Romanian students. They will also learn all they need to know about how to submit your application and the IELTS  (International English Language Testing System) exam, the English proficiency test required for your university application.

Besides the universities’s bids, there will be several conferences and seminars.

CJ Lim, professor of architecture and urbanism and international Development director at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, will lecture on the “Imaginarium of Urban Future”. The presentation starts at 11:00.

#We Are International conference, organized in partnership with the League of the Romanian Students abroad, gets together leaders of the UK universities in Bucharest, along with representatives of the academic world in Romania, whose institutions have partnerships and research programmes with universities in UK.

#We Are International is a campaign initiated by the Universities UK organization, where over 100 universities and institutions in Great Britain are pleading for the internationalization of the higher education.

The conference is scheduled during 16:00 and 17:30, with the access being free.

One of the speakers at the #We Are International conference is professor Ashraf Jawaid OBE, vice-chancellor for Foreign Affairs at Bedfordshire University. The university will present its offer at the education fair in Bucharest by tackling a highly topical issue: “About scholarships and money. What’s after Brexit?

6,800 Romanian students are currently studying in the UK universities, while 860 Romanians are employed as higher education staff.

Overall, more than 125,000 students from the EU are currently admitted to the British universities, representing 5 % of the total number of students in UK. More than a quarter of the academic staff comes from outside Great Britain, which means 55,000 people from over 180 countries.
