Doctor Bogdan Socea Resigns as Manager of Sfântul Pantelimon Hospital following scandal
Doctor Bogdan Socea announces his resignation from the position of manager of “Saint Pantelimon” Hospital, stating that the announcement comes “in the light of the request of the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, and the Prime Minister, as well as recent circumstances”, meaning following the arrest of two female doctors from the hospita, accused of first-degree murder.
“Following the statements of the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, I would like to address the following points of clarification and express our commitment to patients and the community we serve. The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, requested my resignation and that of the medical director the other day. This decision comes against the backdrop of ongoing investigations and recent events that have affected public confidence in the “Saint Pantelimon” Emergency Clinical Hospital. Recently, our hospital was at the center of a major scandal. We fully understand the seriousness of the situation and the negative impact it had on the patients’ families and on the community’s trust in the health system”, the manager said in the message posted on Facebook on Friday.
“We want to emphasize that we are fully engaged in cooperating with the competent authorities to clarify the circumstances of these tragedies. At the same time, we internally investigated every detail of these events in order to identify possible deficiencies and implement the necessary measures. In the recent period, we started a series of actions to improve the quality and safety of medical services. We also initiated a review of all the protocols and procedures in the Intensive Care Unit”, said doctor Bogdan Socea.
Two female doctors from the ICU Department of the Pantelimon Hospital were placed in preventive detention for 30 days under the charge of qualified murder with premeditation after the death of a patient whose dose of noradrenaline was allegedly reduced.
