Dozens of households flooded in Vrancea County. Orange Code for rainfalls in Eastern Carpathians
Rainfalls and floods have again caused havoc in many parts of the country. Vrancea County was one of the most affected, it was under Red Code alert on Milcov River. Water has flooded dozens of households in the village of Broşteni. The 2M national road was covered by alluvial and water level has reached one meter and a half. Major problems were, last night, in Iasi city (north-western Romania), where the streets have turned into pools, realitatea.net reports.
The biggest problems are registered in the villages of Pitulasa and Arva. Fire-fighters intervened in the area to help the locals.
The Red Code warning for flood issued for Milcov River basin expired on Wednesday at 9:00h.
In Iasi (photo), one hour of heavy rain was enough for the streets to turn into swimming pools. The sewerage system did not cope with the large amount of rainfall in a short time, and the road traffic was disturbed.
On Wednesday rainfalls are further expected, also lightning, strong wind and hail. In Moldova, Dobrogea, Transylvania, Maramures, northern and eastern Wallachia and in the mountains, water quantities will exceed 20 … 25 l/sq m and in isolated areas 40 … 50 l/sq m.
