Romanian students who participated in the International Chemistry Olympiad 2022, organized by China and held online, won 2 gold medals, one silver and one bronze, according to the results announced on Monday, July 18. “It is a special performance, a performance that shows the effort that these students made, together with their preparatory teachers in the class, together with the team of university professors who ensured their training,” teacher Daniela Bogdan told Edupedu.ro.
Romanian students’ results:
Alexandru Catalin Dianu from the International High School of Informatics, Bucharest – gold medal;
Vlad Iova from the “Emanuil Gojdu” National College, Oradea – gold ;
Teodor Padureanu from Ferdinand I College, Bacău – silver;
Vlad Gabriel Ristache from the “Tudor Vianu” National College of Informatics – bronze.
The teacher mentioned that 326 students from 83 countries participated: “The 2022 International Chemistry Olympiad was scheduled to take place in China for about five years, or it is easy to understand why it did not take place in physical format, but online . It was too high a risk, I suppose, to go to China. This is what the organizers decided, that it is better to take place online“.
83 countries and an individual team participated. The number of participating students was 326. “Being among the first students in the 326 of the 83 countries is not a small thing, it is a great performance, a performance that shows the effort that these students have put together with their teachers class trainers, together with the team of university professors who provided their training,” the teacher added.
The International Chemistry Olympiad is due in Switzerland next year.
