Romania ranked first with a gold medal at the International Olympiad of the German Language, recently organized in Hamburg, Germany. It is about the prize won with 100 points out of 100 by the student Teodora Smîntacă – Strugariu from Bacău, for the B2 language level, the highest achieved in the competition, edupedu.ro reports.
It is the first gold medal obtained by our country at this Olympiad, where prizes are awarded as in sports competitions: one first place, one second place, one third place, according to the official’s post. Teodora, from the “Vasile Alecsandri” National College in Bacău, participated alongside Matei Florescu from the “Tudor Vianu” National Informatics College in Bucharest. The two are in the 10th grade and were trained and accompanied in Germany by teacher Silvia Socolescu from the “Traian” National College in Drobeta Turnu-Severin.
According to the official website of the International Olympiad of the German Language, about 140 students from 70 countries were expected at the competition held this year in the German city of Hamburg, in physical format, from July 25 to August 5. In principle, students who have passed the national German language exam, qualified for language levels A2, B1 and B2, between the ages of 14 and 17, participate in the international.
