The Mihai Tudose cabinet has suspended on Thursday the central administration employments until the end of the year.
The decision was made by Emergency Ordinance and the draft normative act has been posted for public debate on the Development Ministry’s website, ziare.com reports.
Observations and proposals may be submitted by July 16, i.e. within 10 days of publication.
PSD chairman Liviu Dragnea has confirmed the freeze of employments until the end of the year.
“There was a lot of hiring, although we decided as a strategic decision in January that there will be cuts of 10% in all public spending and it seems that the tap was loose in hiring in the central administration, this is not ok,” Dragnea said.
First information regarding the alleged government intention to freeze employment was released last week by Digi 24 TV.
In May, 504,000 people were employed in central administration and 595,000 in local administration.
A previous freeze in employments took place during the Emil Boc government, given the context of economic crisis.
